I suffer from chronic daily headaches and get migraines at least twice a week. I've had this for a year and a half, I try to do some exercise when I'm not having a really bad day such as swimming, home exercise videos, pilates. However anything other than pilates/yoga will always make my headache worse by the end of the day. I am desperate to get fit again as my exercise regimes went out the window when I started suffering from CDH.
Any suggestions welcome x
@A MyMigraineTeam Member. The nice thing about TRX is you can remain upright (more or less) for a good deal of the exercises. I find some days I can't take the inversions with yoga. I also love that I can attach TRX to a post and use outside. Form is really important and takes some learning but lots of good videos on YouTube. Hope this helps !
@A MyMigraineTeam Member - I can't do any form of exercise while having an attack, Everything hurts, and I can't stand the light. The exertion just makes it worse, plus I just don't feel like putting forth the effort. So I take advantage of the times I do feel okay and do it then. The idea of trying to get out of bed and get ready to go somewhere is daunting and painful. Of course, then I feel guilty because I didn't do anything, but I'm trying to lean not to beat myself up about it. I didn't work out because I didn't want to, it was because I just couldn't. You have to take care of yourself first. Too, that if you try to work out, your meds go through your system a lot faster.
Thank you, I will definitely look into TRX sounds great! I love swimming but often makes my headaches worse annoyingly :(
swimming helps me
Hi, I'm same as you. Was a fitness junkie until chronic migraines hit 3 yrs ago. I can also do yoga or Pilates but found anything else makes it worse. I've done some experimenting and found I can do strength training or mid-level cardio as long as I keep sessions to 15-20 min or less. Anything more and boom! Migraine gets worse. I LOVE my TRX, good workout heart rate goes up but no jumping which I can't take with a migraine. I miss the gym and my cardio has suffered but I do what I can when I can
