What Do You Think Of The Imitrex Injection?
A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

My neurologist prescribes these to me. I've only taken them a few times. But the pain of the shot gets worse every time I take it. It's literally unbearable. I get chest pains really bad afterwards, and really bad tightening in my jaw. And I know it says redness at the injection site is normal.... but I had a red welt from the shot, as well as a bunch of little bumps all around it. Then it got bigger was swollen about the size of a quarter for a few hours.

With that being said.... I think I'm… read more

I do the injection. It is painful going in but I've learned to alternate legs and that has helped some. It really knocks my migraine out fast. Much faster than when I take Relpax.

I have to use injection. Would just throw up the pills. Hurts going in but once I start to feel some relief, it's worth it. Get occasional bruising and bleeding at the site of the injection. Also feel my chest tighten but then it goes away.

I used it in the past, it takes effect much faster by injection. I did not like giving myself a shot. I use the new onzetra abortive but you have to have bcbs or another insurance carrier that covers it. It's new, works quickly through your nose. You can get a sample from your Dr. And can also get a free first prescription from their website if your Dr. Prescribed it and your insurance does not cover it. They will work with insurance carriers.

I use the imitrex pills and injections. I've gotten use to the pain of the shot. I do get the tightness in my jaw along with some redness at the injection sight. I also get really chatty but have slurred speech. Also sleepiness. But once I sleep, I wake up feeling so much better. I just can't take it and go to work or take it and drive.
