Has Anybody Had To Stop Working Because Of Their Debilitating Headaches
A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

I suffer daily with dizziness and vertigo. I had to stop work in 2014 as I couldn't cope with the illness. My memory became poor and I physically couldn't move. Most days I get by now but still suffer the repercussions of living with migraines. Is there anyone who has had to stop work, if so how do you cope financially? Not sure how I can make things better for my partner as he is only bringing in a wage

I have a hard time holding down a job, near impossible without FMla for protection. Here in Oregon you have to work for a company for 6 months before being eligible, I haven't made it that far with my last 2 jobs. Trying so hard with my job now but it is very hard. I push myself to go when I have one or finish my shift then I have a horrid migraine for the next three days.

Yes, I had to quit one that I worked at for 19 years. The migraines were so bad I was forgetting steps in our work process and having lots of errors. I was also out of work had used up all leave time ( Sick, Vacation and FMLA). So I quit before the had a chance to fire me. I am RN have been one for over 3o years.

Yes lost my job as I couldn't move for months with migraines. Every time I moved. Initially I lost my central vision which was put down to atypical migraine .. not good .. have to be careful can't read or write for long do anything too concentrated as it brings it on. Life adjustments massive .. but look for support st CAB IF you are Uk they will help with benefit applications

In the last 10 years I had to go on FMLA twice. Both times for about 6 months. Talk to your Dr. see if he will fill out the paperwork, call insurance company tell them what's going on. They will send paperwork to Dr. to be filled out. Then wait to see if you will be approved. I have migraines that cause me to vomit constantly, and I'm sensitive to light and sounds. I work retail sales so I could not do my job effectively. So I was approved quickly. Give it a try, good luck!

I lost my job due to my migraines. I am waiting for a social security hearing. It's been a year since I contacted a lawyer and could be 6 months or more before I get a court date. I am surviving on my IRA because my mom doesn't work either. I'm lucky we live in one of my grandparents houses so we don't have rent. I hate the thought of disability but I can't even go to the store because of the lights. I also suffer from extreme vertigo and am pretty much stuck in my house.
