amber, I can relate to you as far as the medication goes - I got addicted to hydrocodone, so i can no longer have narcotics then they said only Tylenol, now i overdosed on that and now no more tylenol, so the only thing i have left is Imitrex injections and they usually will help if i catch it in time, but i only get 9 shots per month and that gets to be a problem when you have migraines every other day. I have had to give up my career, working at all, and basically everything now, and have a really pitiful life. I just got home yesterday morning after being in the hospital again for 3 days with a super incredible migraine - and they told me my migraines were getting worse. I just dont know if i will be able to handle WORSE for much longer. I am sure you can relate to that.

I did try botox but that was a joke for me - the doctor was a jerk, he kept making comments to me about why are you having so many problems with the needle sticks, (and i am thinking after well maybe 30 fn sticks i am kinda hurting i dont know) so - and it didnt even help - so i wont go through that ever again.

I do have a thing called an Alpha Stimulator which is an electronic device that clips to your earlobs and emits an electrical pulse for about 40 minutes or so and that does help for insomnia which i have had forever also, and i just received another device it is called a Cefaly - please do a search on these devices - the only downside is they are expensive and i dont know if insurance will cover them. But the Cefaly device is unique because you put it on your forehead it stays up there with magnets from an electrode pad you paste to your forehead. And you snap this little thing to your head and press the button and it is really wierd - it emits pulls of energy - it makes the hair stand on end. But the cool part is it actually will confuse the nerve signals and somehow change them from pain to non pain. Like i said you have to search on this to find more out about it.

Anyway it didnt work for me - it was extremely painful for me and actually caused migraines to start with me. So, that is not something i will continue using.

I wish you well and hope you find something to help you - i am in the same damn boat here - doctors, no meds, not much hope, i will be doing accupuncture soon, and i know that helps, and just hoping that medical marijuana comes to this state really soon too.

take care, lisa

I take topamax to prevent them and imitrex injections and tizanidine and either naproxen or hydrocodone for mine, plus I put ice on my neck because mine are in the back of my head.
