A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

What is the approximate cost? Do most insurance companies cover it?

I agreed to be part of the clinical trial and Emgality provided me a card to take to the pharmacy. So far my insurance has covered my subsequent injections. I went from having severe migraines every single day to maybe two a month. Last month I only had one. I am feeling much more positive about being able to move forward in life since my nightmare started in 2016.

I couldn't take topamax either. It immediately made me feel horrible.

I went off the rails on topamax years ago. Found only one Dr who agreed. Actually said “ yes” some people do react very badly.

I believe the cost is around $6,600 per year. I’m not sure about most insurances. If documented properly I think they would. I doubt they would cover it, if you have not tried other preventive medication.

Could have been. I have seen other postings that Topamax caused craziness. Then again some people swear by it.
