I bought an ice cap a couple of weeks ago. It’s been a life saver!

I don’t know how or why it helps, but it just does. It doesn’t get rid of the headache pain, but it does make it more bearable until meds finally kick in.

I can't explain why it works but cold compresses on the forehead and/or back of my neck and warm on my feet and hands help relax and make it better.

I have ice packs too that I rotate out. I guess you can say it numbs the pain. I fall asleep with one on the side that hurts and cover my other side of my head with a pillow applying a little pressure. If it's bad though I take as many hot showers as needed to manage the pain.

For me, and my hubby thinks I'm crazy lol, I will have the heating pad on pillow side and icepack on my neck and head on other side. The ice on neck and feet in water thing has never helped me.
