Is It Common To Be Treated As A Stroke Patient For Migraines?
A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

Every time i go to the er the Drs note i have facial drooping and slurred speech with my migraines, they instantly start treating it like a stroke. Is this common? I'm only 28 if it helps.

Yes, migraines that look like a stroke are called hemiplegic migraines. I have them lately.

Maybe ask about hemiplegic migraines. They mimic stroke symptoms. But always get new symptoms checked

Yes. I’ve been having them since a teenager and no longer go to the er for them because they treat me so badly because I’m young

Yes it is always better to make sure that there is more going on then just your migraine. I have drooping on the side of my head that hurts. I had pain down my right arm the other day and I was a little nervous about it, but I also had neck and shoulder pain which I treated with heat and it went down in a few days.
