Propranolol
A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

Recently had an MRI and it showed a lot of white matter which I know is common with chronic migraines. Diagnosed with ischemic brain disease after this. I’m having severe pressure in my head like it’s going to explode so my neurologist prescribed Propranolol ER. I’m kinda scared of the side effects though & if I have to stop it I’m worried about withdrawals. Starting at 60mg
Side effects with extended release?

I was on it years ago for my high BP. Made my sleep all the time, no withdrawal symptoms when I quit.

I’ve used propranolol for several years. I don’t find that I have intense side effects. I do have a slow heart rate, I’m always cold and it makes me sleepy so I take it at night. I also take topamax which has a lot more side effects. My doctor told me that some time side effects can show up much later. I have had a few issues come up and I’m not sure which medicine caused them. I hope it works for you.
