Speech Problems
A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anybody have or get any type of speech problems when leading up to or during a Migraine?
I develop a stammer and struggle to even get any words out. This then upsets me and thus makes my migraine come on quicker or makes it worse.

I have had those types of migraines & I was told that, since I’m a 2X Stroke survivor, it’s a normal side effect of the migraine. For me, it depends upon what part of my brain is “acting up” & starting the migraine. But my Neurologists have told me that it’s fairly normal for a lot of us to have that side effect.
As long as it goes away after the migraine, you’re okay; but if it persists, you should definitely go to the ER & be checked out because it could be a sign of a stroke.

This is interesting. I sometimes have trouble putting words together (remembering peoples names, places, etc) . I wonder if it’s related to pre migraine. I’ll have to pay attention.

I have this all of the time from my Migraine coming on (troubling speaking forgetting words and or what I am doing) I joke about it and so does everyone around me. That is how I deal with it I like saying that I can hide my own Easter Eggs. Hope it helps.

Yep. Mines not every time I have or am getting a migraine, it seems to be in slightly stressful situations.
And yes it is embarrassing.

It happens to me, even when I don't have a migraine headache. I think because I have had them for so long. It's very frustrating and at times embarrassing.
