Hi everyone! I have been dealing with Chronic migraines sine my 20's. The Neurologist has me on Zonisamide and increased the dosage but it is not working. I have migraines pret thg much every day and miss work also i am on FMLA at work. I was thinking about trying Aimovig. Has anyone tried this and what experience did you have. Also what about Botox? I am scared to try it.
I've had migraines since I was 16 (I'm 57 now) and had gone through every combination of drugs imaginable when Botox was approved. I got impressive results from it for ten years, moving from 15-20 migraines a month to about 8 a month, sometimes less. They were also less severe. It was a life-changer, but eventually stopped working as well. When the break-through headaches became more frequent, I was switched to Aimovig. It has been the best preventative I've ever used! Very few migraines, and when I get one, it's so mild I just have to rest for a few hours. I am on the higher dosage (140), and it seems to work better over time. No side effects so far, and I"ve been on it for four months.
I have migrains since I was 10 yrs old and I am 66 now. I went to various Drs over the yrs. then my Neurolgist suggested I go to the Diamond Headache Clinic in Chicago. Since I live in Tenn, I thought he was crazy. But when I could'nt get out bed because of the pain, I thought I might as well try. The best decison I ever made. I have been seeing them for 25 yrs. They have a whole practice deicated to the trearnent of headaches. Over the yrs, my husband & I moved around a lot, and ever time we moved, I tried new doctors and was always didapponted. My advise for people who suffer with migraines, the best Dr. to go to is a Headache specialist. Neurologist only have a little amount of Migraine patients. They treat all kinds of illiness. A headache specialist treat only Headaces, and migrInes,
I had no luck with botox but my neurologist is putting me on amovig as soon as my insurance approves.
