@A MyMigraineTeam Member My neurologist put me on 800mg twice a day and it has really help with my migraines. He said that research has shown that people with migraines are magnesium deficient. I still get migraines, but they aren't as frequent or severe. Something to consider.

I use topical magnesium chloride and I take a Kal (brand) Migraine Defense supplement or a prenatal vitamin in the morning and a B complex in the afternoon. If I wake up with a migraine or feeling like I'm getting one I do magnesium and the Migraine Defense immediately.

@A MyMigraineTeam Member - what does the topical magnesium and Migraine Defense do? Do they prevent migraines or do you use them as a rescue? I read on Amazon about the topical magnesium oil and it also said it helped with sleep - do you find that to be true?

Both- Magnesium oxide and I think
Riboflavin is B6. If you take a multi vite check and see how much riboflavin there is in it. One health food store told me the Riboflavin needed to have the other B vits with it so you can get a B complex that has some other B vites to help with their effectiveness.

I took part in a clinical trial about 2 years ago for magnesium oil to absorb through the skin based on research showing over 80% give or take of migraine attacks studied show a large deficiency of magnesium in the brain during migraine attacks. The oil spray was already on the market as an alternative supplement. It lasted three months and although it did not change the frequency of my migraines it did for a while reduce the severity of them. Unfortunately the product is expensive and the dose required for migraine treatment was 40 sprays a day and I couldn't afford to keep using it after the trial.

I did try supplements of magnesium in various tablet and capsule form but unfortunately it caused severe diarrhoea something the spray did not cause. Owing to the uncontrollable bowel effects I had to stop taking it.

The Vitamin B complex did not make a difference to me either I tried that about 5 years ago.

The link above is for the product I trialled and has a testimony for somebody it worked much better for but it also has some of their research results summarised on the page...
