Preventive Medicines
A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been a ton of different preventive medicines . The only one I found that helps is lyrica. Are there any other good medicines?

@A MyMigraineTeam Member, I understand your frustration of no preventative meds effective for you. The last new med we tried was Propanolol which gave me chest pain with the feeling of abnormal heart rhythm. I haven't heard of trying Lyrica for migraines. How does improve yours? Less frequent? Less intensive? I'm very curious! Thank you!

i happen to be the worse patient because I am A typical (abnormal is what i call it) i have a trial and error every medicine cause what works for most doesnt work for me. I took propranolol for 2 yrs it was a waste of time it did nothing and because its used for the heart they said i had tobe weened off of it...I didnt I just stopped.

Yes it has improved them quite a bite. They are less severe on it than any other one I have tried including propranolol. And they are definitely less severe.

I'm atypical too. Some things work others don't. Some things work for a year then they quit. Topamax is a good one to try. Don't take high doses though it will make you stupid. And don't drive till your body gets used to the meds. I did and had 2 accidents. It's one of those meds that while you are on it you have a hard time doing 2 things at once. This is really evident when you take high doses. So if you do drive just drive and that's it. Don't drive and listen to the radio or talk on the phone or eat or anything other than driving. It takes your concentration just to do that.
