Just wanted to know if anyone knows of all the migraine medications out there that can help with migraines. Over the counter, prescriptions, preventative n home remedies are all welcome! Thanks from the bottom of my heart!

These are the preventative's that I have tried.
Depekote, verapamil, effexor, amitriptyline, propranalol, topamax, botox shots, gabapentin, inderal, lexapro, atenolol.
Currently back on propanolol for high blood pressure but it has not helped with migraines.
I pretty much have up on finding a preventative that didn't have severe side effects and actually helps with my migraines. Now I just treat with sumitriptan pills or shots as needed.

I currently take Zonegran. I was taking a mild antidepressant with it initially but have discontinued that. If I feel a migraine starting I take a Zomig and Aleve and it typically knocks it out.

Topamax was awful for me. I too felt forgetful
and couldn't focus. I've been off it for over a month and doing well.

Have you considered a daith piercing Alison. It seems to work for a lot of people. Don't be put of by being told it is painful and hard to get over. It really isn't. Also, try feverfew. You'll get them in a health shop. As far as a prescription is concerned sumatriptan is definitely the best painkiller. I don't know where you live but any of the triptan tablets are the answer. As far as over the counter mess are concerned ibuprofen and paracetamol together work well. That's all my remedies. Good luck.

I was on Topomax years ago. My headaches reduced, but I use to loose my train of thought, forgot my daughter's birthday and difficult praying out loud at one of our Bible study classes. Oh...I lost weight! Got off of it the same year. Felt loopy.
