Does anyone know what can be done to prevent weather headaches? Or what can be done to relieve the weather headache?
Sadly, there is really no way to prevent weather related migraines. I think you can help ease them by paying attention to the weather and being prepared. Don't leave the house without your meds. bring anything that eases your pain along as well.As for relief when one starts, do what ever works for you during any migraine attack, for me, it's ice on my head and neck, caffeine and rest, meds don't help. We can't avoid the weather, we just have to learn what works for us in different situations,
Depends on where you live, what you have to deal with. Accuweather (and probably other weather sites) has a feature that shows if weather is beneficial, neutral, or bad for migraines, allergies, arthritis, etc.
I wish I knew that answer. I have MS, and I use a portable little hand held AC and cooling scarfs in the summer. Winter I try to stay in the house. Walking in and out from heat to cold ( back and fourth ) does bring on migraines for me. I'm worse in the summer. The cooling scarf works great, for me. It looks dorky I'm sure but it helps me lol.
If I am laying out or sitting out in the sun and someone pours cold water on me I'm done. In the summer that is.
Sorry I don't know an answer but I've said something to my neurologist and he agreed that yes the in and out of cold to hot or hot to cold can help bring them on.
Hugs to you
Very warm and unsettled weather in the DC area this week. Have had a migraine the last 4 days, and taken Rizatriptan 3 times. Not sure it's working yet. Came to work, but man, would I like to be at home with a hot rice bag on my face!
I was born in Alexandria, but am in Nokesville (Manassas area) now.I have lived in Fairfax, Falls Church, and Springfield, as well. My husband is from Arlington.
