Does Anyone Have Advice On Propranolol And Pregnancy?
A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm currently on 80mg twice a day but would like to try for a baby this year. I've read that propranolol can cause issues with getting pregnant and with blood supply to the placenta. Has anyone else taken propranolol during pregnancy or come off it beforehand? And any differences with migraines before or after having a baby?

Both times I was pregnant, I barely had migraines but as soon as babies were born. My migraines came back worse.

My best answer would be to speak with an OB/GYN but keep your neuro doc in the loop. The OB will be able to tell you what, if any meds are safe to take. It is best to slowly go off any meds rather than abruptly switch or stop. Both should coordinate to give you the best course of action for conception and then a rescue med if needed while you are pregnant. Good luck to you.
