Food Related Migraine/headache?
A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone get a migraine/headache almost instantly just after eating? This can be eating anything,I know there’s certain foods that can trigger migraine but it seems no matter what I eat my head gets really bad instantly after eating anything-even after I’ve been trying a strict healthy diet to illuminate the obvious bad foods that could be causing it.I just don’t know if it’s possible to get them just by eating?😔

I understand that this is varied for each individual. But I will share what has been my life long experience. *Beets, *nitrates, *too much protein, *too little water., *too much sodium, *high fat foods (not in moderation), *leftover foods or *foods stored improperly (or left out too long) become high in *tyramine. *Meat tenderizer. ***MSG this can go by so many other names and synonymous, including; monosodium salt, monohydrate, monosodium glutamate, monosodium glutamate monohydrate, monosodium L-glutamate monohydrate, MSG monohydrate, sodium glutamate monohydrate, UNII-W81N5U6R6U, L-Glutamic acid, monosodium salt, and monohydrate. A big one for me as it is a chemical that causes tastebuds to become irritated and swell, thus increasing flavors in the mouth, increased thirst and for me, the swelling includes, sudden speech impediment and swelling of tongue and blood vessels in the head. Migraine is inevitable. I hope this helps you. 🌼💜

I have found so many triggers but keep finding new ones. MSG's have been a long term issue, teas, sweeteners, pork, cilantro and now parsley. I have had migraines for 36 yrs. My mother had them and her mother had them. Its looking like my 12 yr old son has them and possibly my 5 yr old daughter. Im a preventive med but this isn't no longer controling them.

One way to get on top of this is to keep a diary of what you eat and record when you have migraines. It's tedious but effective. You can only do a couple of foods at a time so begin with your favourite foods. These are often the worst ones. That's what I found. Good luck.

I will immediately get a migraine from smells and loud sounds. When I eat sometimes it will hit hard and I aslo will get nausea and weakness.... so I will retreat to my bed.

I thought food triggers were a hoax until I seriously tested it recently. Now I know that tree nuts (or tree nut butters), lunch meats and any leftovers older than 2-3 days will give me a nearly instantaneous headache. Other supposed triggers like olives, cheese, avocados and coffee don’t seem to bother me.
