I believe it works better as an injectable. Yes, it is in a pen. I no longer take Immetrex. It stopped working for me because I used it for to long. They used DHE for days & now I use Benadryl injections, Norflex & Promethazine to treat my migraines. If I get stuck in a cycle my neurologist sends me for IV therapy which includes DHE. I hope this helps. Hugs.

i can't take triptans, and pain pills don't work, so my neuro gave me muscle relaxers. They work for all but the most severe ones. They don't always completely get rid of it, but they get them down to just a dull a pressure. First I was on Flexaril, for years until I got too used to it, now I'm on tizanidine.

Imitrex caused me to have a TIA and I can't take any of the "triptans" they cause my throat to close.

Yes it comes in pills, nasal spray & injection. I've done all 3, injections works best & the quickest. IV therapy works really well if you've had the headache for a long time I like DHE as the main medication.

Imitrex also come in a nasal spray. I went from pill to spray to injectation, none of them worked for very long for me.
