I've been having more auras than usual and they've lasted longer than normal. Also, I've been having minimal headaches. What does this mean?

Members reassured someone experiencing changes in migraine patterns that shifts in aura characteristics, frequency, and headache intensity are surprisingly common over time, with several sharing their own experiences of auras changing in appearance, migraines switching sides of the head, or developing new weather-related triggers. The community emphasized the importance of logging all migraine activity, promptly communicating changes to a neurologist, and avoiding unnecessary worry since temporary shifts can resolve on their own. Members celebrated when the original poster reported success with Propranolol after their doctor visit, showing the value of staying proactive and working closely with medical providers.

Brent I have noticed that I sometimes have an aura (terrible temper) up to three days before any pain from my migraines. I don't notice the temper until the top blows. When I have one of those I immediately start taking my pain medication. I found that when I have an aura that long before the migraine the pain is at a 10 out of 10 so I have become proactive in that respect. Could the aura be changing to earlier than what it had been? I know mine used to be only 24 hours earlier and as I stated now it can be up to 3 days before the pain. That is something you might want to track and then talk to your Neurologist about.

Brent, You're doing all the right things. You're logging your migraines. You called your doctor, and reported allof the details. Try not to stress about it. That can make migraines worse. Besides these might be a brief temporary change. Several years ago, I developed blinding auras for a few months, and they've never come back. Other changes: my migraines were always on the right side, but now they're on the left. My latest change was ice pick headaches that would hit me several times a day for 6 or 7 days, then nothing like that for several weeks, then they'd start up again. So don't worry about changes until the doctor gives you bad news. Assume it's just a change, that he'll assure you it's OK, and try not to worry!
