Overview
Zestril is a prescription drug approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat hypertension and heart failure. Zestril may be prescribed off-label to prevent migraines. Zestril is also known by its drug name, Lisinopril.

Zestril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. ACE inhibitors are believed to work by relaxing the blood vessels.

How do I take it?
Zestril is generally taken once daily.

The FDA-approved label for Zestril lists common side effects including headache, dizziness, drowsiness, depression, cough, rash, itching, nausea, upset stomach, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Rare but serious side effects listed for Zestril include angioedema, liver failure, kidney damage, anaphylaxis, and fetal toxicity.
