I have been fighting migraines for 10 years. My doc has been changing the majority of my meds except one. The pain med I have been taking I have been on for 10 years. I think my body has built an immunity to it for the most part. Has any one else experienced this with any of their meds?
Toradol shots always made me sick to my stomach, so I always had to have a Zofran shot with it. And the Toradol did not work well on my migraines.
I also could not take Imitrex pills. They made my heart beat too fast and my stomach nauseous.
I wonder if the shots would do the same?
I've had migraine since age of 7, I'm going to be 58 in a few days and the migraines have been steadily worse as time goes by. I have 3 types of "rescue medicine that I rotate, maxalt, toradol, and limited shots. Even using rotation of these meds I feel like they work less as time goes by.
@A MyMigraineTeam Member the shots would do the same if not worse. I can't take them for that reason and they give me panic attacks also.
@A MyMigraineTeam Member Yes it was covered by my insurance - I've been taking imitrex injections and other self injections for RA that giving myself a shot of toradol had become second nature. You just have to do it quick and get it over with, the medication itself doesn't sting going in either, which is helpful as a lot of other meds to sting when going in
@A MyMigraineTeam Member - that's what I've always been told and heard. My neurologist even said not to go any longer than three days because of the risk of stroke. So I will only give it three days - and by that time I've exhausted all of my arsenal to fight it anyway - I head to the ER for some stronger pain meds. My husband doesn't even like for me to let it go for longer than two days I don't typically get auras, but I do get kaleidoscope vision along with all of the other sensitivities.
