Does Anyone Else Have Issues With Not Sleeping? Waking Up And Staying Awake?

A MyMigraineTeam Member

For a long time now, I have had issues with sleep, falling asleep, waking up and then falling back to sleep. I've tried melatonin, Zquil and Unisom and all I've gotten are weird dreams. Do others have this issue and what do you do about it? What meds do you take? Over the counter or prescription? And what side effects are there? I see my neurologist at the end of the month and I plan on bringing this back up because I'm not even getting 5 straight hours of sleep a night most nights. The odd thing is when I get more than that I end up with a migraine because my body doesn't know how to cope with the extra sleep I've had. Thanks for the help!

I do...I have not slept good in a few days. Going to bed and waking up with migraines plus once I am sleep I often wake up because I am choking needing water, piercing facial pain and/or ear itching.

Insomnia is tough. Ambien for the bad nights. Now I stay on trazadone and amitriptyline. Without them I wake up every hour. I also have a lot of crutches: white noise, pillows, sleep mask, mouth guard you name it. I also use sleep cylce the app to chart my sleep and wake up at the best time. Hang in there!!! You’ll get through it and work with your meds and figure out what is best for you!

Ambien helps me stay asleep and I wake up very rested. I also use a CPAP machine and that helps me sleep and to stay asleep.

Lyrica is causes weight gain and alot of other things too. Not many people who have tried to would use it again. So just keep an eye out for anything odd happening

Sleep?? What is that?? Lol. I have a horrible time sleeping and my Neuro has tried just about everything. I do have a lot of other diagnoses and I have a lot of pain at night so she just put me on Lyrica 225 mg at night. I will let you know if starts working

Yes all my life. The only thing that has ever helped is Ambien, everything else for the last 28 years has not worked and made me feel worse except for mediation.
Good luck, please take care.
