Question About Trying Different Type Of Medication?
A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was looking into different medication I haven't tried for my migraine and cluster headaches and i found almotriptan (Axert) and Frovatriptan (Frova) and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these and can guide me on if they are worth me changing to?

What I have found with Migraine med's it is trail after trial til you find the right treatment for you. Ree

I have been on Frova a few years now. It doesn’t help me much at all. Usually takes 2-3 doses to even touch the migraine and that’s the max for 24 hrs. Going to my doc Friday to see about the injection instead.

Frova only occasionally worked as a partial preventative if I was going to be around smoke. Smoke (especially cigar) is one of my triggers. On days I want to leave the house, Frova worked to prevent a migraine but never, ever worked for me as an abortive. Only Relpax has aborted my migraines. Now Aimovig is my preventative and Relpax my abortive and Toradol with Benedryl and sleep are my rescue meds for my chronic daily common migraines.

Frova is a newer rescue med. my insurance doesn’t cover it. I have not heard anything about the other one.
