A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

dayI'm stuggling my lovely group. I know a lot of this message won't be worded right or text correctly. So i have a question, my doc decided today to take me of the injections aimovig, also nadadlol. Due to some concerning side effects I was having. I was very excited to try the injections but I do have elhers danlos syndrome so a lot of things just work opposite for me. I started having cramps so bad like a cyst busting, which I've had before. I haven't had cramps since 2012, also leg spasms… read more

I use Aimovig now. The last medication I was on worked great but my insurance did not want to cover it so now I am on Aimovig and Diclofenac. The Diclofenac is what I call my emergency med for when I get a migraine. I am not too thrilled with it at the moment because I do not think the dosage is high enough to give me the relief I need in one dose. Most times I have to take three doses and then sleep for a few hours to get rid of the migraine. I have had no side effects to the Aimovig except for a bruise on my leg at the injection site. It has really cut my migraine days down to about one or two per month instead of 25 or so per month.

I am about to take my 4th aimovig injection. It had been life changing for me. It reduces my migraines and symptoms by atleast half. The only difficult part is that the last 5-7 days before my next injection is horrible. I feel the migraine building and then i feel my brain slippong back into all the symptoms. Like not being able to form sentences, double vision, tunnel vision, ect...

Reading all your stories makes me feel like I'm not alone in this crazy journey. Sometimes I just need someone to listen ( i guess) because obviously after my whole adult life (as long as I can remember) of migraine, I was SO EXCITED TO SEE the results of AIMOVIG then
...BAM!! I had a heart attack from something I'd never heard of..pericarditis..which is inflammation around my heart...still don't know why. I haven't been allowed to take my Aimovig shot again or my Rheumatoid arthritis meds either. I'M IN PAIN PEOPLE
... but the pericarditis is under control. Just a warning: if you start having muscle cramps and/or stomach and chest or arm pains make sure it's not inflammation because I HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS GOING ON...it had been happening for WEEKS and I didn't understand it. There was nothing else physically wrong with my heart. Thanks for listening and sharing...HUGS🎂😍💞

Aimovig... I had a reaction to it. Made things worse. Broke out in rash, escalated my pain and now I have all body burning sensation. Had to go to ER. Waiting for a call today to see if my insurance will cover an infusion. Will be out of work for 3 days but I need to break this now 22 day cycle
