Is There Anyone On Disability Because Of Migraines?
A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

It has got so bad and so hard to concentrate, I have lost 2 jobs and closed a business in the last year. Along with trying just about every treatment, sometimes I need to take a small amount of a narcotic, which in most jobs they don't allow.
I have no idea what is involved or how hard it is to get approved. Anyone who has any experience with this and can offer any info would be very much appreciated.

I think I was one of the lucky ones...if being on disabiity is lucky. I applied the same time I applied for social security. The trick I was told, was not to be working. If you can work, you are not disabled. Their logic not mine. The other key is to discuss what happens when you have symptoms. Being very specific. When I have symptoms I can not..... I can not sleep, so I have a hard time getting up in the morning. I can not sleep so I am fatigued and can't operate the machinery at work, I can not go to work because my medicine is a narcotic. I can not read, I can not tolerate the lights in the classroom, I can not tolerate the noise of my classroom, I can not concentrate..... I can not find words when I have symptoms. When I have symptoms I am dizzy. I can not tolerate smells when I have a migraine. I can not attend a job regularly because of the medication I am on, or the appointments I need, etc. I was approved my first try. Think of everything that the migraines do to you and list as evidence as what happens. Good luck. Don't I don't feel well, be very specific.
I did a lot of research on the internet, looked at legal sites, attorneys looking to provide you with help for a part of your settlement.
Good luck to you.

I'm on disability for migraines and fibromyalgia. But I tried going thru the social security office and got turned down twice then I saw an ad on tv for these people and they are wonderful. Just go to this website and click on your state. Answer a few questions and leave your phone number. If you have back pay coming from being out of work they take 25% but if you only have a monthly check they don't take anything. Go to www.premierdisability.com. from my first phone to my first check was only 4 months

I am on disability for chronic migraines. I have a lot of other health problems too but I was approved mainly because of the migraines! It's worth trying to get approved and if they deny you at first then appeal it! I got approved on the first try though...although the wait for the approval was very long! I wish you the best!

I'm on social security disability. My initial claim was denied, but I hired a lawyer for my appeal. He does not charge anything if he loses the case. When I was approved and received my back pay, he was able to deduct his fee automatically from that. I think it was really worth the effort and hiring an exceptional lawyer.
