Do You Have A Good App For Tracking A Migraine That Never Stops?
A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

Those of you with a migraine that never actually ends....how do you (or do you even?) journal? Do you know of a good app for it? Migraine buddy doesn’t work so great when you can’t put in an end time. Current migraine has been going since October. I’ve essentially had 3 random pain freeish days since then.

I have created a spreadsheet and it is very quick and easy to fill out and my neurologist and look at it and see what is going on at a glance. It works well for me.

They inject anesthesia in a spot then poke several holes around it into the muscle. It can trigger your muscles twitch and jump around. My neck and shoulders get done every month. It breaks down the tension that people with migraine tend to carry. It can be uncomfortable huts it’s not painful for me. It also depends on your tolerance. A

I think so far Emgality has helped. I’ve been under crazy amounts of stress and massive weather shifts. I feel like I should have been blacked out in the middle of the bed the past couple weeks but I’ve managed to be *mostly* ok. Lots of pain, had to take a few days worth of attack meds and pain killers, missed a few days of work. Been dealing with daily migraines for a little over 10 years now. The only medication that REALLY worked was desipramine. But it builds up toxicity in my system and I can’t take it. Found that med after 3 years of fails and have been taking failed medication for probably 5 after that. Then it’s been botox up u til May when I started Aimovig and now Emgality.
I am SO happy you and your neuro worked out a system! It makes things so much less crazy and stressful. I guess the good thing is I can always go back to botox. But I would really love to find something that works as well as the desipramine did. My neuro is all out of options and neuropsych is just trying to be able to get me to sleep and the anxiety toned down. I do also have a pain management doc that does my trigger injections. If you carry tension in your neck, shoulders, back, I would highly suggest getting them done. They don’t hurt, per se... they are uncomfortable. I’m sore for a few days after but then everything starts loosening up and popping/cracking. That’s when it feels amazing! Finding a team where you feel completely comfortable to actively take part in your own care is huge. I finally realized that 4 years ago, that I can suggest things and get different options for treatment. It’s made things go a LOT better.
Hope y’all have a fantastic day!

I'm curious. What are trigger injections?

I got a decent boost initially with Aimovig but after 9 months I felt it should have been doing more. Started Emgality April 1. Gonna give it a couple months before I reach a verdict. My only side effect so far has just been injection site issues. I still have bruises from the first set.
