How Do You Break An Unbreakable Migraine Headache?
A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am currently suffering from an unbreakable migraine headache that won't let up and won't respond to home treatment.

Waiting 4-5 months to see your neurologist is crazy. I see mine 3-4 times a yr. so I schedule my next appt. before I leave each appt. How often do you need to see your neurologist a year? Having that many migraines 10-12 days in a row is so extreme! You absolutely should not & cannot live this way. You're right, this is no way to live. There are so many treatment options available, I know there is a plan that will give you your life back. They just have to find it ASAP! I am so sorry that you are suffering so. It breaks my heart. I've had cycles of 3-5 days in a row. I used to get 15 or more a month, so I totally understand. There were many times when in order to break a cycle because I had reached my limit of migraine meds. my neurologist would put me on prednisone. What does the PA do for you? I've never been to one.

Sending in the application was the right thing to do . I would have done the same exact thing. You have to try every avenue you can. It's a disgrace that they come out w/these miracle drugs yet price them our of normal people's price range. It's like dangling the carrot in front of the rabbit. The Pharma. Co.
s make billions off of people's suffering, yet the people still suffer. I'm praying for you & wishing you the best luck ever. If you wouldn't mind letting me know how you made out, I'd be interested, if not that's OK.

If you are chronic, you might not be able to break it. And if you do get a break, it may be very short and temporary. They'll try maintenance drugs, but they might not work. They'll make you wait months before changing drugs "just to be sure to give the meds a chance" and you'll probably have to learn to live with the migraines. On the other hand, you may just have a long-term migraine that might break any day now. One of my crazy tricks is the elbow trick. Stick your elbows in bowls of water, one elbow in super hot tap water, the other in ice cube water. Leave them there 10 minutes. If nothing happens, switch bowls. This can sometimes shock your system into stopping the migraine. Repeat as needed.

Same here I see my neuro every 3 months and get prednisone for my ongoing headaches. I just had one that lasted for 13 days. I am just finishing up with a dose pack or whatever you want to call it ... 3 for 3 days, 2 for 3 days, 1 for 3 days and hopefully the headache is gone. You really need to see your neurologist more, they are bett equiped than we are.
