Too Much Sun?
A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

I spent a lot of time in the sun yesterday. Went for a 2 mile run- 25 minutes and then spent maybe another 35 minutes doing photography outside. Started having a pulsating headache around 4:30 PM. Can too much Vitamin D cause migraine?

I don't think it's a vitamin D issue; it's more a direct result of the brightness of the light and your eyes' response to it; having to constrict so much, and what your face does in bright light, furrowing your forehead and tensing your face. That all could be part of what triggers a migraine.

@A MyMigraineTeam Member, I haven't had any problems lately involving too much sun. I've actually been out in the sun a lot. Mainly in the morning around sunrise before it gets blazing hot. Its usually in the upper seventies when I go out, around 6:30 AM. I'm running 65 miles this month for the Epilepsy Foundation and an extra 20 miles to celebrate my 20 years off chemo for my Histiocytosis (plus its Histiocytosis Awareness Month). I'm up to 31.49 miles so far between walk and runs.

@A MyMigraineTeam Member If you’re looking for an electrolyte drink with less sugar—nuun or liquid IV are good options. You mix them both with water. Nuun is the lowest in sugar. It’s sweetened with stevia and contains only 1g of sugar. It comes in tablets that are good for about 8oz of water so I usually put two into a normal water bottle. I like the tri-berry flavor the best. I’ve found it really helps with hydration and energy levels because of the electrolytes and sodium it contains. You can get them easily on Amazon or at stores like REI.
