Within 5 seconds a severe migraine starts and also severe pain around my shoulder blade and all points in between, all on my left side. I take Nurtec which sometimes helps. Also an injection of Emgality once a month. Any suggestions?

I would like to know if anyone has tried the migraine caps. If so do they work.

I had the same problem.. Botox didn't do a thing.. just out of curiosity, have the doctor done a EMG. Trying other avenues in diagnosis your root of the problem. I am just giving suggestions. Sometimes, it can be something else like a pitch nerve or fluid out your spine.. The foods you eat can effect you as well.. These meds will not make them go away. It's no cure but it can alleviate the pain. If you find the right mix. Everyone is different. I wish you the best of luck

I get migraines with very strong fragrances.. men cologne, least expensive one like: canoe, old spice .. I call it stuff you find at Walgreens or CVS .

I’m with PaulW - pre-medicate if you think you’ll be in position to be exposed. For me flashing lights & commotion set me off. I pop Nurtec & propranolol before we go out, if my head already has a slight twinge, I pop dexamethasone for good measure. Most of the time it works.

Preventive have you tried Botox? I do Botox & Emgality with Nurtec thrown in either for specific situation prevention but I also take it as rescue along with Maxalt (self made combo ok’d by my doc after the fact).

I would suggest checking your neck and upper spine. Mine starting to spread. I have herniated and bulging disc in both my neck and my spine. I have tried several types of medications and procedures done to me. It just mask the problem. My next alternative is surgery which I'm avoiding..
