I’m 65 had migraines for over 45 years, and I have never suffered so much as I do now. I feel so helpless, can’t control the weather! What can I do when I get daily migraines for over a week? Actually the whole month of April! It’s been debilitating.
I know what you’re going through is like and I know how difficult life and living is. You are in my prayers. Have you written down your migraine to see if there is a certain pattern or anything that show something that repeats? Time of day migraine starts? certain food or medicine? Sleeping habits? I what it’s like to try everything and continue to have migraines daily for a month or more. When that happens I go back to the beginning and start with a Migraine Journal (again) documenting everything.
I hope you have relief soon
Jenifer2 You're lucky to be journaling and researching. I researched in college but I was 42 yrs. old. I wrote a paper on Crohn's disease which I have during computer class since I wasn't going into computers. I never journaled. I was too busy going to school and raising 5 children & watching my 2 oldest graduate high school when I was graduating college. It was difficult watching the 2 youngest in grade school and Head Start. I wish I'd been journaling then. Well so long for now. Have a good one.
Thank you for your advice and support! Ultimately, I trust in God to deliver me, and I will do my part to decrease triggers! Thank you!🥰
Aww , hugs my dear! Will definitely be praying for you today! Is your neurologist aware of your current situation? Remember that migraines have a “ threshold”, so multiple potential triggers increase the likelihood of actual migraines. Avoiding triggers within your control is part of the answer, perhaps? Also, what wellness behaviors are you doing to support your mood? Perhaps could you allow yourself more “ comfort measures” such as massage ( at home or professional), hot showers or baths, aroma therapy, eye masks, etc. As a nurse I always thought about “ attacking the pain” in as many ways as possible… even setting timers to take your as -needed pain relievers for a few days so there is less of a decrease in blood concentration of your meds than if you wait til it hurts / gets bad again. Are you getting spiritual, mental and social support?
Also, examine your co-morbidities, so to speak, the illnesses you may have which are related such as other pain, neurological disorders, mood disorders, blood glucose fluctuations, sleep problems, blood pressure problems, etc. are these well controlled? What can you do to improve them to “ increase your migraine threshold” so to decrease your migraine risk.
