Because basically migraines are an "invisible disability". We don't walk around w a cane, or a wheelchair, which the majority of people associate w disabilities. And if they have no experience with the debilitating effects of migraine, they think it's fake. They are ignorant of truth.

I'll admit, I was one of those people until it happened to me. Until I was struck by migraines, my thought was, "it's just a headache; how bad can it be?" Karma really came around and kicked my ass for that.
I've never experienced anyone questioning the fact that I experience migraines. Most people are under the impression that a migraine is simply a terrible headache. I've been experiencing migraines for a few years, but the migraines became worse over the last 6-7 years. I don't waste my valuable time trying to convince others because for me it becomes apparent I'm getting my butt kicked by a migraine. It knocks me for a loop and I'm still learning to recognize the various odd symptoms that develop just before one strikes. Not every person will experience the same level of migraines, but all I know is to do what I need to do during and after a migraine. Just focus on what you need to do in order to take the best care of yourself and learn more about your body, its needs, and adjustments.
I have been fortunate. People understand my migraines and how debilitating they are. I have triggers so they have seen my lifestyle changes. Stress in unavoidable. And can also trigger them. It took many years for my mom to realize my pain. But her hairstylist also had them and did botox shots too. She told my mom how painful they were. My mom called the same day and apoligized for not understanding sooner. I do have a low pain tolerance. And sometimes dont take care of myself. But i am starting to understand my body more.
