I use them & never had that reaction. But everyone is different. I would talk to my Dr or pharmacist.

I just had a skin cancer lesion removed from my leg and it took months to close or heal and the derm recommended timolol to be rubbed into the hole in my leg and it really helped with the pain that I had. Never used in my eyes though.
