Members enthusiastically confirmed that jaw pain can signal an impending migraine, with many sharing their own experiences of TMJ, teeth grinding, and jaw clenching that trigger or accompany their headaches. Several members recommended practical solutions including custom night guards from dentists, Botox injections in jaw muscles, TENS units for muscle relaxation, and physical therapy, with many emphasizing the importance of discussing TMJ with both dentists and neurologists to address the root cause. A recurring theme was the complex relationship between dental health and migraines, as members described how correcting bite issues, treating abscesses, and managing jaw tension through various methods provided significant relief from both jaw pain and associated headaches.

I clench my jaw during day and night, I catch myself during the daytime sometimes, times when I have a migraine it goes down to my jaw. Ask your dentist or get one, a mouth guard to wear at night, for mouth grinding. Look at Walmart or drug store in the section with toothpaste, toothbrush. It might help.

I have TMJ and grind my teeth a lot which is no good because I have dental implants that I Crack. When I Crack them they have to remove them and make a new bridge. Since this keeps happening, next time it cracks I have to pay for a new bridge for $2000. I don't have the money so I'm worried.
I would get jaw pain from grinding so much. But then I had botox and he shot it in the side of my face and head and now I grind very little and I have no jaw pain. It's important to tell your neurologist that you have TMJ if you have it so he can treat the correct areas with botox.

@A MyMigraineTeam Member, I just saw the oral surgeon. I'm going to have surgery on Monday to remove the erupted tooth.
