Members shared various holistic and medical approaches for managing vestibular migraines, with several finding relief through Craniosacral Therapy, which one member described as immediately helping with balance and dizziness after a 90-minute session. Many members discussed supplements like magnesium glycinate, PA-free Butterbur, CoQ10, and B2, as well as medications including topiramate and betahistine, with topiramate being particularly helpful for one member dealing with severe vertigo episodes. A recurring theme was the difficulty of getting proper diagnosis and treatment, with members emphasizing the importance of working closely with specialists, being patient with treatments that can take months to work, and checking for interactions between supplements and existing medications.

Hi Donna, sorry to hear of your struggles too, I went to Mass Eye and Ear for testing as I thought it might have to do with my inner ear and I have several tests done and at the end, the doctor said I am sorry, you do not have an inner ear issue causing these symptoms - you have vestibular migraines. I was referred to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston to a doctor who performs Botox as I am not a candidate for medication. This was 32 shots in the head and a couple in the upper neck area. I had such a severe reaction in that I had to hold onto walls in order to walk and spend most of the 6 days in bed. I was better on the 7th day. That ended that. Truly, I saw many doctors and it is a low percentage that have Vestibular Migraines which I truly feel more research should be done. I can throw myself off by looking here and there, turning in the kitchen fro Refrigerator to Stove and even looking up and down. Some days better than the other but try to eat good meals and drink plenty of water and I also have to admit……….. I have a glass of red wine every night and almost embarrassed to say that it helps. My wish is for you finding someone who can help you on this journey.

Good morning Lisa, amazing experience. Walked in there so no feeling well and balance also bad. Craniosacral Therapy was amazing. A 90 min session and I have never walked out of any kind of healing session without being dizzy and off balance. Sat up and was able to walk perfectly out (went grocery shopping after) and no head issues. I am doing a 3 session with her and she said to book every 3-4 weeks. She has 2 meditations that she wants to listen to daily to help move the fluids in my body. Truly I hope you can find someone who is well educated in this field. I have no idea how long this will last but sooo grateful. Wishing ou luck with the neurologist!!

I get vestibular migraines and started about three years ago. They last from minutes to hours. I have lost almost my hearing in my left ear . The ent says it's vestibular migraines and I've also been tested for meneieres. I feel I have a combination of both. I don't get headaches much but the vertigo is debilitating. I can be throwing up and in bed for up to 12 hours with room spinning vertigo and also have swirling vertigo that throws me into a table and I feel like the ground is throwing me forward like a seizure. I'm taking now betahistine and topiramate which is all that has helped me . Topiramate has helped me the most. The ent says it's not meneieres it's vestibular migraines but they are all quite stumped. I've had all the testing there is and I'm seeing the best ents there are in British Columbia Canada. I also take coq10 b2 and magnesium. I was on 8 tabs of topiramate per day but felt awful so went back to 4 and feel better. Venlafaxine as well. Good luck. It's horrible.
