Nurtec ODT and Rizatriptan ODT work differently to treat migraines. Nurtec ODT belongs to a newer class of medications called "gepants" that target CGRP receptors to stop migraine attacks. It's part of the anti-CGRP family of medications that have shown significant effectiveness in clinical trials. Rizatriptan belongs to the triptan family and typically starts working within 30 minutes but only lasts a few hours. It's most effective when taken at the first sign of head pain. The best medication choice varies by individual and depends on factors like how quickly your migraines develop and how your body responds to different treatments. It's recommended to discuss these options with your healthcare provider to determine which might work better for your specific migraine pattern.
