What are some of the more stronger medicine a doctor can give you. I'm allergic to imatrex. But there gotta be something strong to get rid of these horrible things. Do what are some of the medicine you have tried and was successful with? Thank you. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have to take Imetrex on a daily basis?

Does anyone have to take Imetrex on a daily basis?

I am to the point that I am having to take Imetrex daily just to function. I have tried to go without it but the most I can go is three days before I have to finally give in and take it. I am concerned as to what it may be doing to my heart. I take the "Reddy" brand through CVS which does not seem to work as well as the name brand. Also, each time I take an Imetrex I have to chase it with two Tylenol or Advil.

Wondering if anyone else is a long term user of imitrex/sumatriptan & have retinal vein occlusion?

Wondering if anyone else is a long term user of imitrex/sumatriptan & have retinal vein occlusion?

I guess most of us have our share of worrying about side effects of the migraine meds we take but some of those side effects are more serious than others. I've kind of come to terms that I'm somewhat spacey, forgetful and "lose" my words for example. It's a trade off for a reduction in pain and frequency of migraines. But earlier this year I was diagnosed with retinal vein occlusion (blood clot in the eye)… read more

What do you think of the imitrex injection?

What do you think of the imitrex injection?

My neurologist prescribes these to me. I've only taken them a few times. But the pain of the shot gets worse every time I take it. It's literally unbearable. I get chest pains really bad afterwards, and really bad tightening in my jaw. And I know it says redness at the injection site is normal.... but I had a red welt from the shot, as well as a bunch of little bumps all around it. Then it got bigger was swollen about the size of a quarter for a few hours.

With that… read more

Does anyone taking Sumatriptan (nasal spray) or other method, find that initially the migraine returns on the opposite side of the head?

Does anyone taking Sumatriptan (nasal spray) or other method, find that initially the migraine returns on the opposite side of the head?

I began with the Sumatriptan injections years ago. Then switched to the pills. The effect was full body and left my limbs feeling achy and heavy. I prefer the nasal mist delivery method. However I have found that the migraine will often leave one side of the head, only to appear on the other within a hour or so. I find if the migraine is on the 'lesser painful' side, that I… read more

What abortive treatments do you take? What other treatments have you tried that gets rid of the migraine?

What abortive treatments do you take? What other treatments have you tried that gets rid of the migraine?

I take sumatriptan injections and relpax. The last couple weeks have been horrible and I’m running through them like crazy. I know about rebound headaches but if I want to be functional I need to take something. My parents are wanting me to see a chiropractor but when I’ve been in the past, it’s made them worse.

I use a Sumatran injection. It is the only thing that works for me right now. I also have gastroparesis, but didn't have any luck with the nasal spray.
