Has Anyone Had Any Experience With Occipital Blocks???
A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

My doctor has been recommending the Occipital Block for my almost daily migraines as most of my migraines begin there. I had bad reaction to Botox, have tried many different preventatives and rescue meds and am tired of being a guinea pig - or feeling like one, anyway.
Any feedback??

I had one when I wasn't migraining. It was great for 36 hours. I had one when I had a migraine, and it made it worse...which was hard to believe. These were blocks using steroids not lidocaine. A block done with lidocaine will rid you of your headache because you won't feel your face. And going to that from a miserable migraine...gift from God. Albeit short term in my experience .

Oh yes I've had many occipital blocks and they are more painful than a spinal tap and they didn't do anything for me. Botox worked alittle

that is horrible @A MyMigraineTeam Member - to be used in that way without agreeing to being in a study. I am sorry for your experience :(

What was your reaction to Botox?? and was it to the Botox itself or the lidocaine? I have had occipital blocks several times and they helped but not for long.

The times I have gotten them it is a steroid and lidicaine, and they inject some of the same places that botox uses. The times I have had them done it was on the back of my head and the side of my head.

Hope this helps
Lisa
