Daith Piercing
I have a brain tumor and had surgery sever migraines for over a month straight..i got the daith done on the side my tumor and migraines are and I swear no headaches or migraines for over a month now.. with no medicine.. it is taking very long to heal.. the piercing did hurt.. but I'm so thankful I did it.. knock on wood.. I'm loving it not having migraines.. plus it helped with my vertigo also and dizzy spells
I have had migraines for nearly three quarters of my life. I was having a migraine at least every couple of days. To the point that I would lock myself in my pitch black bedroom with earplugs and migraine meds. I couldn't function like a normal mother or wife and I hated it. I decided to try the piercing. I figured if it didn't work, at least I would have a couple cool piercings. And I was desperate to find something for relief other than medication. I got both daiths done in December of 2015, and haven't had a single migraine since. It has truly been a life saver for me.
Finding the "sweet spot" pressure point
You must locate this first otherwise it's like throwing darts & hoping for a bullseye.
I see an acupuncturist weekly for chronic pain & PTSD. He puts temporary acupuncture tacks in my ears each week as part of treatment.
They go into the cartilage but not thru and
fall out after a week or so.
I asked him to put acupuncture tacks in my daith to try & locate the "sweet spot" before I spend $ on a daith piercing.
3 out of 4 times he tacked the daith, it worked in minutes relieving migraines.
The 4th time, after 4 days of tacks in, I went to the piercer. Asked him to pierce the exact spot the tacks were.
I went from 6 migraines A Week down to 7 migraines in 4 Months. The length & severity is much less...life changing!
Sxymamacrta,
That makes sense to find a person that you know will hit the right spot..otherwise it's useless...I'm glad to hear that the acupuncture works for you...I had actually thought about doing that too...but I've read a lot where some people have said it doesn't make much of a difference..but then again maybe it's the acupuncturist...or just that everyone is different and responds differently...if for some reason I don't have good results with the daith piercing, acupuncture is my next step..so I appreciate your feedback about how it works for you
Omg I'm sorry to hear your not only dealing with the migraines but also having a Brain Tumor.....I am and definitely should be very grateful that I only deal with the migraines...as I've said before I've looked into the daith piercing for awhile & finally went and got it done today...after having another one today while I was at work...you just get to a point with them that you almost wanna try anything to make it go away...so how's the time for the healing process...The guy that did mine was very calm...& used a gentle voice cause he could see how nervous I was...& I agree with you that it hurt....but if it's going to help us in the long run it's worth it...that's soo good to know it will help with being dizzy too cause I've had a lot of that going on especially when the migraines are full blown too
I have just had a Daith piercing in my right ear ( right side my Migraines start on) It didn't hurt as much as i thought 😊 I will keep you posted on results. Out of interest....he suggested piercing the LEFT ear ..as my symptoms on the right. But most folk have said, have it done on your worst migraine side...so i did. Cost £20 and he put a bar through ( not a ring) and screwed a tiny ball on each end. He said boiled water n salt daily and NO TWIDDLING n NO PICKING SCABS less it won't heal!
