Has Anyone Tried Propranalol (blood Pressure Meds) For Migraines?
A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

My neurologist put me on 60 mg once a day for my weather migraines. She said I should try it for 2-4 weeks.

I've been on 160 for a decade and a half or so. I have tried to go off it and I get instant migraines. I still get weather related migraines/ Those are pretty much all I get anymore.

Hi. Yes I tried them 80 mg slow release were quite affective for a couple of years. I did try 40 mg twice a day but they weren't as affective for me. I just stopped taking them as after awhile they didn't help. I just take sumatription 50 mg now when headache starts.

I was on Propranolol for several years and I had very good luck with it. I always made sure that I took it at night because it did make me dizzy. After a while I felt it wasn't working anymore and I've switched to a different med, but I think that you have to give that med at least 4-6 weeks in order to feel some sort of difference. Good Luck!! I hope it works for you!

I've been taking it for a few months now, and have had very good results. That said, it's also had a negative effect on my digestion, but probiotics pretty much fix that.

It's been 3 weeks now, and I'm still not sure there's any benefit. On the other hand, while I haven't had dizziness, I have had some undesirable digestive side effects (including bloating) that reminds me of a long period of gastritis that I had some years back. I'll give it another week and talk to my neurologist about phasing it out.
