I Have A Few Questions To Pose To Those That Have Gotten The Daith Piercing.
A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

1. Are they easy to remove & put back in? I have multiple brain issues so i have to get annual scans so i have to remove ALL my facial piercings. I cannot get any piercings that i cannot remove myself or put back in myself
2. Are they sensitive/painful to lie on or to remove/put back in
3. How quickly did you notice the difference in your migraines?
4. Did you get both sides done? If not, do you think you should've?
5. Would you recommend the daith piercing to your favorite sister/best friend… read more

I have both sides done. I have told my aunt who suffers from migraines about how much it has helped me and that I think it would help her out if she got them done as well. They are kinda hard for me to put in but I have banana bars instead of hoops because they fit better in my ears but I have bad shakes and can’t always get the ball started myself so my husband has to help me. They aren’t painful once they heal up, I had some issues with finding the right type metal I could wear so mine took a little longer to heal but once I put the plastic ones I have in they healed right up with a little Johnson and Johnson antiseptic wash. And as for the difference I noticed a little right after I got them done but once they healed up it was crazy how much they helped. I have only got one bad migraine in 2.5 years and only a couple headaches. I used to wake up every day with a headache and had a migraine at least once a week. So it has been a big help to me.

I have both of my daiths pierced. I have NOT had a migraine since August of 2016. Thank the Lord. Whenever I do get a headache I pop 3 Ibuprofens and it’s gone within about 30 mins. I will say this, if you get them, make sure you go to a reputable piercer. Talk to them about how to avoid keloids (Tea Tree Oil helps!!). Whenever I’ve had to have a procedure I have to get my piercer to change out my rings. I have fat fingers and can’t get to them. She puts in my plastic ones. No charge for change outs. I’ve kept ALL of my rings and the plastic ones. This was one of the BEST decisions I’ve ever made regarding my migraines. No more daily meds. No Botox. No suffering. I wish ALL of you the best of luck and hope this works out for you!!!!

1. I have not had to take mine out.
2. Not painful to lay on from day one for me. I mean I have a high pain tolerance with my migraines and fibromyalgia.
3. I got my left piercing done in May 2018. I had a migraine that day that was getting more severe as the day went. Had it done about 1pm. After I left the shop I was driving home and felt this weird pressure in my head and a sensation like my ear needed to pop then the next thing I knew it was gone!
4. I got my left done first because I wanted to see if it worked and my migraines on my left were unbearable and the doctors were recommending me applying for disability due to the severity, I was at max doses for meds. Spending $100+ per two weeks on MIGRAINE MEDS ALONE! That’s when I decided at the age of 23 I was not going to let my migraines control my life any longer. Since getting my left side done I have only had 3 BAD migraines. I began having right sided migraines in August so in October I got the right side done and it was the best decision ever only had 1 migraine since!
5. Yes I would recommend to family and friends. I have recommended to my patients.

I only had one side done but it was a lifesaver. Literally. Had to take it out due to emergency surgery and loads of tests. Had I had known I would’ve put a plastic plug in beforehand. Making an appointment to get both sides done because my migraines came back within a month of having the piercing removed. It was painless and very worth it. I see others saying to use titanium if you have a lot of medical testing so that’s what I shall use this time.

I have both my ears done and I ha e never taken mine out so I cant answer how easy it is to take out or put back in. But the day I had mine done 2 years ago I had a bad one when I went in to the shop to have it done and as soon as it was all over my head had stopped hurtting ive only had 1 migraine since then I have normal ones now but nothing like a migraine b4 the peirceing I had migrane everyday just about it. It was eaiser to tell u how many days a month I didnt have it. My health is better cause I'm not taking so much meds now. They told me if u have alot of pain on both side of your head it's best to get both ears done. Most of the time if my head starts hurtting I rub both my ears to ease the pain and it really helps. I hope I have answered some of your questions.
