I Want To Get A Daith?
A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

I want to get a daith piercing, but do not know which side to get or if they work. I have various types of migraines, mostly they radiate from side to side. If anyone has any information or maybe pics of the area that was pierced for them so I know where the pressure point I'm aiming for is, I would be greatly appreciative.I will be going to a Tattoo piercer to do this. Thanks..

Hello, I actually got a daith piercing about 8months ago. I can honestly say I was very nervous about getting it done because of all the things ive read online but , after it wasnt sore my migraines have been cut in half . I dont have them everyday which is nice . I still get them though. Getting the piercing also helped with anxiety that I was having, so maybe that may stem from my migraines.

this is what it looks like. Also, the chap that did my piercing (at a reputable, longstanding London piercing salon), said the side doesn't really matter. Hope that helps. Usually it helps if the piercer knows about the migraine daith piercing, but keep in mind it does not work for everyone. I just got my first migraine since my piercing two weeks ago, and am managing without my prescription- quite elated!

Not if you take care of them, need to be cleaned with a Saline solution two times a day, or sea salt. And you will become a back sleeper for about two weeks. But pick jewelry that is Stainless steel that you like, cause you can not can them for 6mths to year. But they did work!

I had tried acupuncture and had great success with it so I looked in daith piercing. I contacted a neighbor who works in a tattoo parlor. She said they see/do a lot of the piercings. I went to a piercing shop. I had both ears done. It was very uncomfortable, a lot cleaning involved. The discomfort was well worth it. I started with a slightly curved stud, but switched to a hoop, the hoop more comfortable. My pain level has dropped from a 9 to a 4, my nausea is gone, the sensitivity to light & sound is slightly better. I don’t have to stay in a dark room all day. I’m enjoying life again!!!!
