Which Symptoms Count As A Migraine Day?
A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

As I tally my migraine days to report to my neurologist, I have just been including head pain days
I have other symptoms, like fatigue, fogginess, depression, inability to concentrate, mental and physical heavinedd, insomnia, sugar, cravings, and I don’t count those days of those symptoms as migraine days
Sometimes these symptoms are my prodromes and sometimes my “after” dromes.
I would love to know what people think about counting days of symptoms other than pain.

Yes!
It’s as though using the word ‘migraine’ immediately translates to ‘headache’ and that’s the end of the conversation. Unless they have experienced it.
And even among those of us who experience migraines, we can have very different symptom patterns.

You are so welcome, Lauren.
Isn't it horrible we go through all this and some people think it is "just a headache"?

Fatigue is part of my prodrome phase always, but is also part of my postdrome. Fogginess during migraine and postdrome.
I get eye pain with the migraine and sometimes lose sight in one eye. I get neck pain and stiffness prodrome and with the actual migraine.
But I have also had all these symptoms and others without the head pain. I think it is all migraine days.
I do admit fatigue also comes with my heart failure diagnosis. And neck pain with my arthritis. But I can usually tell what the neck pain is from. And if I have several of those symptoms together I know the head pain is coming.
But I understand where your coming from ,not knowing what symptom is from what. With age we often have a lot going on.
