Members coping with CPAP headgear pressure and migraines shared that wearing headgear too tightly is a common mistake, and many found relief simply by loosening the fit or switching mask styles. Several members described trying different options including nasal pillows, nasal masks, and full-face masks, noting that finding the right fit often takes trial and error with support from a CPAP specialist. A recurring theme was the frustrating cycle of skipping the CPAP due to discomfort, which then worsens sleep and prolongs migraine recovery.

Sounds. Like I will have to go back to the front mask and forgo the top of the head system. Thanks

I did that also when I first started with my CPAP. I couldn’t wear the nasal pillows. They made my nose sore, plus I just opened my mouth when I couldn’t breathe due to congestion. I suggest trying a full face mask. You don’t have to wear it so tight. I used to rip mine off too, but I got used to it when I realized it helped tremendously!

My headgear pressure seems to bring on my migraines.

I've used a CPAP for 20 years (migraines for 16 of those) without issue until my last headgear purchase. I was noticing my headgear was leaving a depression in my scalp so mentioned it (jokingly) to my sleep doc so he changed to a different style of nasal pillow. Now I am having problems with breathing through it, but it doesn't seem to bother my migraines.

April: maybe you need your air pressure increased to prevent choking!
