Watch on Demand: Shattering the Stigma Around Migraine With Dr. Starling

Written by Torrey Kim

“Often, people wonder what they did to cause their migraine attack. Stop the guilt! It’s not your fault that you’re having a migraine attack. It’s a genetic, neurologic disease.”

Dr. Amaal Starling shared this important insight during MyMigraineTeam’s live Q&A on June 22, 2021, when members of the migraine community had a chance to learn more about managing and treating migraine attacks.

Dr. Starling joined MyMigraineTeam co-founder Mary Ray to answer questions on how to differentiate migraine from a series of headaches, how to explain the pain of migraine to loved ones, and how to use the appropriate verbiage when discussing migraine.

Check out a few more key insights that Dr. Starling discussed during the live Q&A:

  • Why migraine attacks can subside for a period of time and then come back for several days straight
  • The advantages of keeping a migraine tracker to identify trends
  • Myths about the impact of chocolate on migraine attacks
  • Why migraine affects your whole body, not just your head
  • Whether a link exists between depression or anxiety and migraine
