Yes, optical migraine, also known as retinal migraine or ocular migraine, is a rarer type of migraine. Retinal migraine attacks typically involve visual disturbances in one eye, such as scintillations (flashes of light) or temporary vision loss, which usually last for 5 to 60 minutes. These visual auras happen soon before the migraine headache starts. It is still a subject of ongoing research whether repeated episodes can lead to permanent vision loss due to retinal cell damage from oxygen loss.
