Most days I wake up with a migraine. There are many times when my migraine actually wakes me up. I've had migraines for the last 10+ years. I'm in constant pain on most days. I've tried many medications, both preventative and as migraines occur. Knowing all this, what suggestions do you have for me when I go to my doctor's appointment?

Here are key steps to prepare for your neurologist appointment:

• Start a migraine journal before your visit to track your symptoms, timing, and severity
• Document all medications you've tried (both preventive and acute) and their effectiveness
• Note any patterns you've observed, especially with morning migraines
• Write down specific questions about treatment options and their potential side effects
• Be ready to discuss your complete migraine history and impact on daily life During the appointment:

• Be direct about how migraines are affecting your quality of life
• Ask what to do if prescribed treatments don't work
• Discuss creating a detailed migraine action plan
• Request information about both medication and non-medication options
• Don't hesitate to ask about side effects of any suggested treatments

Remember: Open communication with your neurologist is crucial for finding the right treatment plan. Not everything works for everyone, so being honest about your experiences will help guide better treatment decisions.
