Hi my name is Jennifer and I’m 43 years old. I have Degenerative Disc disease as one of my other conditions. Today 11/2/26 has been one of the worst days. I don’t have a specialist. The only specialist I did have didn’t listen to me. That sounds like such a frustrating and exhausting experience — not being heard by a specialist is really demoralizing, especially on a day when the pain is at its worst. Since this community is focused on migraines, back pain can't be addressed directly here, but it's worth noting that back pain and migraines can sometimes overlap.

Some MyMigraineTeam members have found relief from migraine-related pain through approaches like:

- Massage therapy targeting the neck, shoulders, and back
- Chiropractic care
- Heat or ice therapy
- Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) devices

For finding a new specialist who actually listens, the American Migraine Foundation has a tool to help locate migraine specialists by location, which could be a good starting point for finding someone in Indiana who takes a more personalized approach.

A good specialist should listen, try different approaches, and adjust treatment when something isn't working — not repeat the same thing that isn't helping. Keeping a symptom diary to bring to appointments can also help make sure nothing gets overlooked.

Hang in there — bad days do pass, and finding the right care team makes a real difference.
