Intractable Migraines- Any Ideas On How To Stop Them?
A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

I get lots of intractable migraines that last longer that 48-72 hours & don't respond to standard treatment (also called status migrainosus). I would love to know if any of you have ideas on how to treat them?

To complicate things further I can't take ergots or triptans because of severe side effects to these medications in the past. My "go-to" medicine for this is a steroid taper (was 4mg methylprednisolone taper pack but eventually that stopped helping & the dr upped the dose to a 20mg predni… read more

Triptan Overuse Rebound Headaches
A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

What do you guys know about triptan overuse headaches?

This had never been mentioned before by my neurologist and he prescribes me 30 rizatriptans per month and 7 frovatriptans per month, which covers my 20 migraines (if they decide to work). However, I had no idea that by taking the prescribed medication as directed, I could actually be causing more migraines. But if I don’t take them, I’m in excruciating pain and am… read more

Are They Still Migraines If You Don't Have The Usual Symptoms?
A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've been told my chronic headaches aren't actually migraines because they don't follow the normal patterns. First, they are whole head every day, all day pain, not just centered in one area of the head. Also, I don't have any of the triggers or reactions like most people - no light sensitivity, no nausea, no auras, nothing. Just constant, steady pain. Does anybody else have this same problem?

Suggestions/advice On Different BC Solutions For Sufferers Of Migraine With Hormone Sensitivity?
A MyMigraineTeam Member asked a question 💭

Ever since I got the copper IUD (paraguard) I've noticed my acne has became significantly worse, takes longer to heal, and creates worse/more scarring. I had not taken any birth control for 3-4 years before I got the IUD. My skin used to be normal, even through pregnancy and after. My doctor thinks taking something hormonal will worsen my migraines. But I'm wondering now if it would just be worth it in the end anyway, and maybe just treat the worsening migraines if my body doesn't get used to it… read more
